AEJ Media Freedom Rep Horsley presents special report for Council of Europe
Monday, November 02, 2009
Twenty journalists were killed in the past three years in Europe, and the region suffered another setback in media freedom because of violence, repressive laws and political interference against the media. Those are the findings of a Report by the AEJ's Media Freedom Representative William Horsley, commissioned by the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly. It was presented to the Media Sub-Committee in Luxembourg on October 26th. The research is to help the Assembly create a stronger mechanism for monitoring and countering assaults on journalists and abuses of freedom of expression in the media across Europe.
